My name is Lanita Duke and I am a lifelong resident of Portland and a graduate of Marylhurst University with a BA in History and Cultural Studies.    I started Grassroot News, NW an independent, educational video production company in 1979 to serve the needs of low income and at –risk groups.  We continue to produce socially responsible videos such as “Revolutionary Math” to address the achieve gap in the Portland Public Schools.  I’ve produced a small library of award-winning social, health related, and educational videos.  I am a musicologist and political commentator on 90.7 FM KBOO community radio.  In addition, I work 2 square jobs in social service.  Vote Tuesday, May 17th for Lanita Duke COMMISSIONER, POSITION NO. 1
